Pirate games offer a feeling of a true adventure filled with dangers and treasures; this is not something any title can offer.
Clearly, it's just a theme; pirate games can belong to any genre. The first pirate game to be at the front of the fleet is Sid Meier's Pirates!, one of the best titles created for the Commodore 64. The game is a fantastic simulation of the life of a buccaneer in the golden age of Caribbean Piracy. You can plunder, treasure hunt, or sail and, at the same time, conquer the heart of a girl.
While Pirates! is a true gem, there are a few more in this chest. Cinemaware's Sinbad and the Throne of the Falcon is still about a sailor but in more middle-easter settings.
The legendary adventure The Secret of Monkey Island and all its sequels introduced voodoo magic to the world of pirates, just like the Pirates of the Caribbean films, and let's not forget Claw, a cute cartoon-graphic platformer featuring a pirate cat as the hero.
