Game Review

Diggers is a sci-fi puzzler created by Millennium Interactive originally for Amiga in 1993 and later ported to MS-DOS and Acorn 32-bit.

The game, designed and programmed by Toby Simpson, was one of the first titles available for the Amiga CD32. In fact, the game was one of the two included in the launch bundle of the console (the other one was Oscar). Later, Millennium released the non-CD versions, for Amiga 1200/4000, with no changes apart from the soundtrack. The 256-colors AGA graphics was still there, of course.

Diggers is clearly inspired by Lemmings even if, in this case, you are in control of a mining team excavating some distant planets trying to recover precious minerals.

Great graphics, some nice ideas, and relaxed gameplay make it a nice choice if you like non-frenetic puzzlers. A sequel called Diggers 2: Extractors was released in 1995 for MS-DOS only.
