Game Review

F29 Retaliator is a 3D flight combat sim created by Digital Image Design originally for the Amiga and published by Ocean in 1990 for the Amiga, Atari ST and PC.

The game, designed by Martin Kenwright, allows you to pilot a F-22 fighter or a F-29 (an experimental jet that in reality was not a fighter) in several missions between Europe, Middle East or Pacific.

Even if many considered F/A-18 Interceptor a better game compared to this one, F29 is regarded as one of the fastest 3D flight sim ever created for the Amiga.

I tried F29 retaliator, on win 7 64 bit. Unfortunately I think the game is not working well. No problem to take off, provided you are extremely quick to withdraw the landing gear, otherwise, the display that controls this system turns red and the command to retract the landing gear simply no longer works. Same thing happens for any "flaps" still used, if they do not return immediately, they become unusable. Maybe it will also be a realistic situation ... but honestly, the time allowed is really ridiculous. The most serious problem, however, lies in the fact that, if once you have taken off, you have to press the "J" key by mistake ... or the "M" key or the "K" key, if you are playing with the keyboard, the commands stop responding ...
