Game Review

Impossamole is a platform shooter created by Core Design and published by Gremlin Graphics in 1990. It was released for Amiga, Atari ST, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, PC Engine, and other platforms.

The title, designed by Alex Davis and Berni Hill, is the sixth chapter of the Monty Mole series, which started in 1984 with Wanted: Monty Mole. The series was supposed to end with Auf Wiedersehen Monty, but Core Designed decided to create at least one Monty game for 16-bit computers, and this is how Impossamole was born.

The title is similar to other Core Design entries, such as Rick Dangerous 2, but it doesn't reach the same quality. It's also too difficult to be enjoyable unless you are a hardcore platformer champion. But you might want to play it to listen to the fantastic intro tune composed by Barry Leitch.
