Game Review

Turbo Outrun is the sequel to the original OutRun and was developed by SEGA and published by U.S. Gold in 1989 for the Amiga, Commodore 64, and many other platforms. Turbo Outrun is a racing game like the first one and features similar play mechanics.

Turbo Outrun is meant to play fast and furious. Just like the first one, you get to be behind the wheel of a Ferrari (a Ferrari F40, to be exact) and try to beat the clock. You must complete each track within a specific time limit. Failure to do so will cost a continuation, and you only get five. The most significant changes from the first game are that the race locations are set on a linear path, you now have an opponent, and you can get a ‘turbo’ speed booster. Cops will also be hot on your tail; you must either outrun them or run them off the road.

It's not one of the best coin-op conversions, but it's fun and colorful, and the music is good. While not overly complicated, it’s a good game for inexperienced racers, but it’s also a nice change of pace for hardcore ones.

What an ugly disappointment ... I bought the version for Commodore 64/128, and it was a myth, a game masterpiece especially the sound, which was really very nice. I had never had the opportunity to see the Amiga version ... I must say that I have not lost much. Slow, rather ugly graphics, the opposing machines suddenly arise, and are of the "kamikaze" model. They are waiting for nothing but throwing themselves at us! Basically it is hard to feel the "feeling" with the game.
    No, I didn't like it!
