THIS PACKAGE COMES WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO USE, RESULTS AND PERFORMANCE OF THE PACKAGE IS ASSUMED BY YOU AND IF THE PACKAGE SHOULD PROVE TO BE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE ENTIRE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR OTHER REMEDIATION. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, CAN THE AUTHOR BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED IN ANY USUAL, SPECIAL, OR ACCIDENTAL WAY, ALSO IF THE OWNER OR A THIRD PARTY HAS BEEN POINTED AT SUCH POSSIBILITIES OF DAMAGE. This install applies to "The New Zealand Story" © 1988 Taito/Ocean. This install requires WHDLoad and DIC to be in the path. Both can be found in the WHDLoad package. To install from a different drive than DF0: select installation mode Expert. The installed program requires 0.5 MB ChipMem and 1.0 MB OtherMem. It can be quit by pressing num '*' (key can be changed with Tooltype "QuitKey="). If you have problems with this installation please try and get a newer version of this package from the WHDLoad WWW-Page. If that doesn't help try some Tooltypes like NOCACHE, NOAUTOVEC, NOVBRMOVE, NOMMU, PAL or NTSC. If that also fails, please inform the author via the Bug-Report-Form which can be accessed on the WHDLoad WWW-Page or create a mantis issue directly at http://mantis.whdload.de For the full WHDLoad package, other installs and updates refer to: http://www.whdload.de/ or aminet:dev/misc/whdload#? and aminet:game/patch/ version 2.6 (23.04.2022) done by JOTD: - fixed crash in "disable speed regulation" mode (issue #0005602) version 2.5 (14.04.2022) done by JOTD: - fixed score bug display when score is > 999999. Now score gets locked at this value (issue #0004477) - CUSTOM5 bits allows to disable blitterwaits and/or speed regulation for slow machines (issue #0005164). Set to 3 to disable both, 1 for just blitterwaits and 2 for just speed regulation version 2.4 (06.02.2021) done by JOTD: - merged version 2.2 bugfixes that I overlooked (but most fixes from broken 2.1 were already been fixed). Means just optimize the slave code, nothing more - renamed highscore files back to "NewZealandStory.highs" (issue #0004831) version 2.3 (12.09.2020) done by JOTD - restored original title picture (can be paused with BUTTONWAIT) - self-modifying code removed: end screen was completely trashed - high-scores aren't saved anymore if any cheat is set (oxygen, level skip, start at level) - added pause (P or joypad play) - added speed regulation (game was too fast on some machines) - added reverse+forward+yellow: quit to workbench - added selectable start level - slave was using a wrong name for highscore files. - swapped CUSTOM2 and CUSTOM3 (CUSTOM2 now enables arcade style controls) - reworked/cleaned up source code - hopefully fixed controls (issue #0004766) Version 2.2 (StingRay) - Patch was broken since v2.1 and crashed with access fault shortly after the title screen, buggy menu patch fixed - Copperlist problems fixed Version 2.1 (Hungry Horace) - Configuration features for WHDLoad v17 added - Fixed 68000 specific bug causing a black screen on game loading version 2.0 (16.11.2008) done by Hungry Horace - Load / Save scores to HD (file 'highs') - Highscore saving is disabled if either CUSTOM1 tooltype or the original game cheat are used. - Game now returns to the highscore table after game completion, instead of the menu screen. - After completing the game the round number for game completion is entered as "END". - Highscore table delete function now fixed to three characters to prevent overwriting of score. - Blitter waits adjusted to make speed closer to the original. - Loop which locks the game where no sound is enabled (emulation) is now removed. - JST source level emulation removed (JOTD) so HH can improve the patch in a full WHDLoad source fashion. - Install script & readme rewritten to fit WHDLoad standards (JOTD) - Trainers on CUSTOM1 can be combined (added) for multiple trainers: - CUSTOM1=1 - Infinite Lives - CUSTOM1=2 - Infinite Oxygen - CUSTOM1=4 - Enables Levelskip (Help key, original cheat) - CUSTOM1=8 - Enables cheat with only one key - CUSTOM2=1 enables the "fast cheater" - press any key to enable the original game cheat. - "Fast cheater" now supports both game versions - CUSTOM3=1 enables two button support - This operates exactly like the arcade version; - Jump is now activated by the second button and not "up". - Upwards movement of a balloon or rider is activated by the second button. - After collecting the Joystick item, or riding the spaceship, the joystick up control is used. - CUSTOM4=1 enables the music player - Press any key on the number line (starting at 1 and ending with the plus key) to activate any of the game music. - This tooltype overwrites and disables the easy-cheater on CUSTOM2 version 1.3 (09.04.01) done by JOTD & Abaddon - Full loading of the game from RAM/HD (faaaaast) - Convenient installer script - Two versions supported - JST and WHDLoad slaves provided - Possible quit with QUITKEY at any time - Press any key during main menu to activate cheatmode - Removes copy-protection check (actually skips this part) - Fixed by Abaddon to fully remove the protection - Blitter waits inserted to avoid GFX problems - Nice icon by Frank (MWB version by D. Cresswell) - Hints docfile included version 1.x (1998-2001) done by JOTD - JST release - whdload rewrites Joypad controls: - blue: jump (if CUSTOM2 is set) - play: pause - forward+green: levelskip (if trainer is on) - reverse+forward+yellow: quit to workbench Notes: Avoid to quit by a reset: the game is reset-resistant. Using the quitkey solves the problem. Type MOTHERFUCKENKIWIBASTARD on the title screen to enable the original cheat the early release. Type FLUFFYKIWIS on the title screen to enable the original cheat on the later (common) release. Hungry Horace thanks JOTD for letting him be involved in this labour of love. Wepl, Girv and BippyM are also thanked for their general help and encouragement. Further thanks got to Denis for providing the original version as a disk image.
