README

Short: HD-Installer for Where Time Stood Still Author: Codetapper/Action (codetapper@gmail.com) Version: 1.0 Type: game/patch This patch applies to "Where Time Stood Still" (c) 1988 Denton Designs/Ocean - 1 disk. Original game converted from the Atari ST by Galahad/Scoopex! REQUIREMENTS: - Slave requires WHDLoad V17+ and RawDIC - Game requires 512k chip mem and 512k other memory FEATURES: (31-Jul-2014) - Full load from HD - Keyboard routine added to quit all intro sequences - Snoop bugs fixed (x6) - Ocean logo now appears for 1.5 seconds - Screen corruption after Ocean logo fixed - Colour bit fix - Decruncher relocated to fast memory - Built-in frame rate throttler replaced - All files can be compressed to save space (AMIGA, ATARI, SCOOPEX and TIBET.PRG can be ProPacked) - Set CUSTOM1=1 to skip all the intro sequences (Scoopex cracktro, EAB, TOS Brothers, Ocean logo and the game intro) - Set CUSTOM2 to set your desired maximum frame rate: 0 = Default (10 fps) 1 = 50 fps 2 = 25 fps 3 = 17 fps 4 = 13 fps 5 = 10 fps 6 = 9 fps 7 = 8 fps 8 = 7 fps 9 = 6 fps 10 = 5 fps - Normal, RomIcon, NewIcon and OS3.5 Colour Icon (created by me!) - Source code included - Quit option (default key is 'F10') Press F8 during the game to access the built-in options menu. You can use the keys 0-9 during the game to set the desired frame rate. I have modified the built-in frame rate throttle so it is consistent on all CPUs. The existing code had 4 speeds and would wait a specific number of frames meaning you had different speeds at times. It now counts vertical blank interrupts and delays (if necessary) until the desired frame rate has been reached. If you have a slow CPU (such as an Amiga 500) and you set the maximum frame rate to 50 fps, it will run as fast as it can but the game will not be able to keep up with 50Hz, so it may run at 10 fps or less. It is always the maximum desired frame rate. Greetings to Galahad, Dr Bong, Denis, Adrian, Wepl and the WHDLoad team!
