Il sequel del popolare simulatore di combattimenti spaziale fu creato da Chris Roberts e pubblicato dalla Origins. Special Operations 1 fu rilasciato esclusivamente per PC nel 1991 e introduceva 20 nuove missioni e 2 navi aggiuntive, continuando la saga dei Kilrathi contro la federazione Terrestre.
