Game Review

Insanity Fight is a top-down vertical shooter created by Linel and published by MicroDeal in 1987 for the Amiga and Atari ST.

The game stands as a peculiar anomaly in the world of retro gaming. This title plunges players into a realm where surreal landscapes and eccentric adversaries reign supreme.

In this shoot 'em-up, players navigate vertically scrolling levels at a constant speed. Along the way, they encounter waves of aliens and numerous mounted structures that must be destroyed before they can retaliate.

Graphically, Insanity Fight falls short of expectations, with rudimentary visuals that fail to captivate. Its gameplay is equally uninspiring, offering little in terms of innovation or challenge. Despite attempts at charm through quirky characters, the overall experience feels lacking.

Considering that the game was released when the Amiga was not popular yet, it should not surprise that the graphics were not so amazing, and the gameplay quite boring. Insanity Fight may hold nostalgic value for some, but its shortcomings prevent it from standing out in the pantheon of retro gaming classics.

This was the first Amiga game I ever played back in 1990, after I had unboxed my first computer and the Ten Star Games pack that came with it. Insanity Fight has a great 80s arcade quality to it; today it is a bit limiting and frustrating, but it is what it is, given its age, and I admit I do have a soft spot for it. I never finished it back in the day, so maybe now it's time to resume the fight...
