This install applies to "Turbo Outrun" © 1990 US Gold. Requirements: ------------- This install requires WHDLoad and RawDIC to be in the path. These programs can be found in the WHDLoad package. To install from a different drive than DF0: select installation mode Expert. The installed game requires 0.5 MB ChipMem (+1.0 MB OtherMem for preload). It can be quit by pressing F10 (key can be changed with Tooltype "QuitKey="). Features: --------- - Full load from HD - 2 versions supported (1 disk US version, SPS 1064) - Protection removed (disk check) - Access fault fixed - Timing fixed, fix can be disabled with CUSTOM1 - Trainer options added (CUSTOM2, see below) - Starting level can be selected with CUSTOM3 - ButtonWait support for title picture - High-score load/save (high-scores won't be saved if trainers are used!) - Interrupts fixed - Keyboard routine fixed - NewIcon and ROM icon (created by JHZ) - Source code included as usual - Quit option that works on 68000 machines (default key is 'F10') Another patch redone by yours truly. Some keyboard problems were reported for the old patch so I had a look and created a completely new patch. Due to this you will have to re-install the game, the patch now simply uses 2 image files (one for each disk) instead of 3 as in the previous versions. The game had a major problem on fast machines, it was simply unplayable because there was no timing at all. Since the code is very slow on a plain 68000 A500 coder didn't feel like adding any sync with the raster beam hence game is unplayable on fast machines. I have fixed this, if you run the game on slow machines (or simply want to have some "fun") you can disable the timing fix with CUSTOM1. I have also added lots of trainer options which can be enabled with the CUSTOM2/3 tooltypes. Available options are: CUSTOM1=1: enables unlimited time, you will have unlimited time during the game and also in the "choose transmission" and "choose tune up parts" screens CUSTOM1=2: enables unlimited credits CUSTOM1=4: enables the "no overheating" option, you can always use the turbo as it won't overheat CUSTOM1=8: enables in-game keys, available keys are: T - toggle unlimited time N - skip level X - show end O - toggle overheating C - cool down turbo The starting level can be selected with CUSTOM3. I have also added high-score load/save, the high-scores will only be saved if none of the trainer options have been used! ButtonWait is supported for the title picture, if enabled the picture will be shown until either mouse button or the fire button has been pressed. Enjoy the game from HD if you can, in my opinion it is not enjoyable at all as the code is way too slow and compared to the excellent C64 version the Amiga version is really bad. Notes for V2.0 -------------- The US 1 disk version is now supported, it features a completely different disk format (similar to Afterburner) and encrypted binaries. It also seems to be a later version of the game which incorporates some bug fixes. The timing fix from the previous version has been removed, as I don't think it is really needed. ButtonWait will only work for the SPS 1064 version as for the 1 disk version it is not needed, the pictures are shown long enough during decrunching. Creating this version of the patch took me more than 16 hours to do. I didn't expect that when I started doing the update, as I otherwise would not have bothered at all.
