THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO USE, RESULTS AND PERFORMANCE OF THE PACKAGE IS ASSUMED BY YOU AND IF THE PACKAGE SHOULD PROVE TO BE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE ENTIRE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR OTHER REMEDIATION. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, CAN THE AUTHOR BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED IN ANY USUAL, SPECIAL, OR ACCIDENTAL WAY, ALSO IF THE OWNER OR A THIRD PARTY HAS BEEN POINTED AT SUCH POSSIBILITIES OF DAMAGE. This install applies to "African Raiders-01" © 1989 Tomahawk. Requirements: ------------- This install requires WHDLoad to be in the path. This program can be found in the WHDLoad package. To install from a different drive than DF0: select installation mode Expert. The installed game requires 0.5 MB ChipMem and 0.5 MB OtherMem (+0.4 MB for preload) It can be quit by pressing F10 (key can be changed with Tooltype "QuitKey="). Features: --------- - Full load from HD - Access fault fixed (24-bit problem) - Blitter wait added - Atari-ST palette bug fixed (can be disabled with CUSTOM2) - Timing problems on fast machines fixed - Intro can be skipped with CUSTOM1 - 2 NewIcons (created by me) - Source code included as usual - Quit option that works on 68000 machines (default key is 'F10') This one was requested a few days ago on EAB and since I had nothing better to do I made the patch. Game had a few problems on fast machines, these were mainly 24-bit and timing related. Game did not run properly on 32 bit CPU's because it used the sign bit (31) in the address registers which of course caused an access fault. It was also much too fast on anything else than a plain 68000 machine. I have fixed these problems of course. I have also added an option to skip the rather boring intro, you can skip the intro with CUSTOM1=1. Not much more to say, game is not really playable in my opinion but enjoy the patch anyway. Update 14-Dec-2015: ------------------- Had a look at this patch again today and added a blitter wait, this should fix any graphics problems that might have occured on fast machines. While testing I noticed that the game is very dark and checked the palette entries, turns out that all the color values in the palettes are the original 3-bit Atari-ST values hence the game is very dark. I have now fixed this and converted the palette values to proper 4-bit Amiga values to the game looks OK now. If you don't like the correct Amiga palettes you can disable the palette fix with CUSTOM2. The game is still not playable at all but at least it's not too dark anymore. :) Sting, 16-Apr-2013/14-Dec-2015 Greetings to all in Scarab and Scoopex, the WHDLoad team, PMC, Musashi5150, Skan, Slummy, Loaderror, Frequent, Wayne Kerr, Mr.Spiv, CFou!, Paradroid and all the other usual suspects. :) Special greetings to all Golf MK1 fans worldwide except those lowlifes who "borrowed" my MK1 for a joyride! Extra greetings to the usual suspects on #amigascne, see you all at Revision 2014! :) History: -------- version 1.01 (14.12.2015) - blitter wait added - Atari-ST 3-bit palette values converted to 4-bit Amiga values (double brightness), fix can be disabled with CUSTOM2 version 1.00 (16.04.2013) done by StingRay: - initial release - supports SPS 1169 version - source code included Contact: -------- If you have problems with this installation please try and get a newer version of this package from the WHDLoad WWW-Page. If that doesn't help try some Tooltypes like NOCACHE, NOAUTOVEC, EXPCHIP, NOMMU, PAL or NTSC. If that also fails, please inform the author via the Bug-Report-Form which can be accessed on the WHDLoad WWW-Page. For the full WHDLoad package, other installs and updates refer to: http://www.whdload.de/ or aminet:dev/misc/whdload#? and aminet:game/patch/
