THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO USE, RESULTS AND PERFORMANCE OF THE PACKAGE IS ASSUMED BY YOU AND IF THE PACKAGE SHOULD PROVE TO BE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE ENTIRE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR OTHER REMEDIATION. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, CAN THE AUTHOR BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED IN ANY USUAL, SPECIAL, OR ACCIDENTAL WAY, ALSO IF THE OWNER OR A THIRD PARTY HAS BEEN POINTED AT SUCH POSSIBILITIES OF DAMAGE. This install applies to "Big Run" © 1992 Storm. Requirements: ------------- This install requires WHDLoad to be in the path. It can be found in the WHDLoad package. To install from a different drive than DF0: select installation mode Expert. The installed game requires 0.5 MB ChipMem (0.9 MB for preload). It can be quit by pressing F10 (key can be changed with Tooltype "QuitKey="). Features: --------- - Full load from HD - Protection removed (Copylock, done by Mr.Larmer) - Decruncher (Imploder) relocated to fast memory - Timing fixed (game is playable on fast machines now) - Trainers added (CUSTOM1 and CUSTOM2 tooltypes, see below) - Drive access disabled - Odd address copperlist disabled - Keyboard routine fixed - Interrupts fixed - High score load/save (only if no trainers/cheats are used) - NewIcon and MagicWB icon (created by Mr.Larmer I think) - Source code included as usual - Quit option that works on 68000 machines (default key is 'F10') Here's the updated patch for this rather mediocre game. There was a thread on EAB some days ago where someone asked for a tool to degrade the CD32 to A500 speed. He needed it for some games which run too fast and Big Run was mentioned as one of these games. Out of curiosity I had a look and the game was indeed unplayable on my 060 A4000. The programmer used the old "trick" not to wait for the vertical blank because the game runs in 2 frames on the A500. Once I found and fixed that problem I continued to work on the patch as there were some more problems such as drive access, an odd address copperlist (probably used as cartridge protection) and some other things. I also added some trainers even though these are not really needed in my opinion as the game is rather easy. To enable the trainer options you can use the CUSTOM1 tooltype (or simply use WHDLoad's splash window). Available options are: CUSTOM1= 1: unlimited time CUSTOM1= 2: unlimited credits CUSTOM1= 4: always qualify (you can continue even if you don't finish in the top 3) CUSTOM1= 8: always start from pole position CUSTOM1=16: enables in-game keys, following keys can be used: C - toggle unlimited credits T - toggle unlimited time Q - toggle "always qualify" N - skip level The starting level can be selected with CUSTOM2, used a value from 0 to 5. Please note that high score saving is disabled if you use any of the trainer options! And if you want to be clever and use the built-in cheat (which enables unlimited credits) I have some bad news for you. :) If you want to have some fun you can disable the timing fix with CUSTOM3=1, the game runs at the fastest possible speed then. Thanx to: - Thomas Schaffhirt for original disk image. Mr.Larmer/Wanted Team in 1999 Sting, 15-Jan-2014 Greetings to all in Scarab and Scoopex, the WHDLoad team, PMC, Musashi5150, Skan, Slummy, Loaderror, Frequent, Wayne Kerr, Mr.Spiv, Alpha One, CFou!, Paradroid and all the other usual suspects. :) Special greetings to all Golf MK1 fans worldwide except those lowlifes who "borrowed" my MK1 for a joyride! Extra greetings to the usual suspects on #amigascne, see you all at Revision 2014! :) History: -------- version 1.1 (15.01.2014) done by StingRay: - patch reworked and source code included - timing problems fixed - trainer added - high score load/save - disk access disabled, interrupts fixed and odd address copperlist disabled - 68000 quit key support version 1.0 (09.03.1999) done by Mr.Larmer: - initial version - protection removed Contact: -------- If you have problems with this installation please try and get a newer version of this package from the WHDLoad WWW-Page. If that doesn't help try some Tooltypes like NOCACHE, NOAUTOVEC, EXPCHIP, NOMMU, PAL or NTSC. If that also fails, please inform the author via the Bug-Report-Form which can be accessed on the WHDLoad WWW-Page.
