THIS PACKAGE COMES WITH ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, STATUTORY OR OTHERWISE. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO USE, RESULTS AND PERFORMANCE OF THE PACKAGE IS ASSUMED BY YOU AND IF THE PACKAGE SHOULD PROVE TO BE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE ENTIRE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR OTHER REMEDIATION. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, CAN THE AUTHOR BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED IN ANY USUAL, SPECIAL, OR ACCIDENTAL WAY, ALSO IF THE OWNER OR A THIRD PARTY HAS BEEN POINTED AT SUCH POSSIBILITIES OF DAMAGE. This install applies to "Dragons of Flame" © 1989 Strategic Simulations Inc. Requirements: ------------- This install requires WHDLoad and DIC to be in the path. These programs can be found in the WHDLoad package. To install from a different drive than DF0: select installation mode Expert. The installed game requires 0.5 MB ChipMem (+0.9 MB for preload) It can be quit by pressing F10 (key can be changed with Tooltype "QuitKey="). Features: --------- - Full load from HD - All OS stuff patched/emulated (DoIO, AddIntServer and more) - Protection removed (manual check) - Access fault fixed - Save game handling fixed - Automatic creation of save disk - DMA wait in sample player fixed (x2) - NewIcon (created by me) - Source code included (also on Github, link below) - Quit option that works on 68000 machines (default key is 'F10') Finally, this patch has been finished. I started it more than 10 years ago. I made a RawDIC imager to save the game files and patched the code to load files. This worked but there was annoying flickering in the lower part of the screen which is why I didn't release the patch. I spent a lot of time trying to fix the flickering problem, but to no avail. A few days ago I decided to restart from scratch and dropped the idea to use files instead of disk image. This decision turned out to be the right one as once I had created all the necessary code to emulate the OS stuff, the game worked fine without any flickering. I then added support for game saves, this took quite a while as the game code to handle the save disk is broken! It doesn't handle the directory properly, which leads to unusable save games. This has been fixed, loading and saving games works properly now! The save disk image (disk.2) will be created automatically if it does not exist. The game code is quite good, but it has the same bug I found and fixed in Heroes of the Lance: the coder accessed the execbase in a completely wrong way [move.l 4.w,(a6)], the game only worked by coincidence! The latest version of the source for this patch can be found on my Github: https://github.com/MK1Roxxor/WHDLoad_Patches/blob/master/Games/Dragons_Of_Flame_WHD.s Enjoy the game from HD and have a nice festive season. Sting, 20.12.2022 History: -------- version 1.00 (20.12.2022) done by StingRay: - initial release - source code included Contact: -------- If you have problems with this installation please try and get a newer version of this package from the WHDLoad WWW-Page. If that doesn't help try some Tooltypes like NOCACHE, NOAUTOVEC, EXPCHIP, NOMMU, PAL or NTSC. If that also fails, please inform the author via the Bug-Report-Form which can be accessed on the WHDLoad WWW-Page.
