THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO USE, RESULTS AND PERFORMANCE OF THE PACKAGE IS ASSUMED BY YOU AND IF THE PACKAGE SHOULD PROVE TO BE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE ENTIRE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR OTHER REMEDIATION. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES, CAN THE AUTHOR BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED IN ANY USUAL, SPECIAL, OR ACCIDENTAL WAY, ALSO IF THE OWNER OR A THIRD PARTY HAS BEEN POINTED AT SUCH POSSIBILITIES OF DAMAGE. This install applies to "Hudson Hawk" © 1991 Ocean. Requirements: ------------- This install requires WHDLoad and RawDIC to be in the path. These programs can be found in the WHDLoad package. To install from a different drive than DF0: select installation mode Expert. The installed game requires 0.5 MB ChipMem. (+1.1 MB for preload) It can be quit by pressing F10 (key can be changed with Tooltype "QuitKey="). Features: --------- - Full load from HD (real files!) - Protection removed (MFM) - Blitter wait added (skipped on 68000, see below) - Blitter wait patch can be forced with CUSTOM2 - Self-modifying code fixed - Movep instruction emulated - Copper problems fixed (see below) - Odd Copperlist pointers fixed - Decruncher (ByteKiller) relocated to fast memory - Trainers added (CUSTOM1, see below) - High score save (only if no trainers are used) - System-friendly RawDIC imager - Source code included as usual - Quit option that works on 68000 machines (default key is 'F10') I (StingRay) have completely redone the patch for this game, first I just wanted to replace the old The Patcher imager but then noticed that the old patch had a few problems and missing features and simply redid it. It was necessary anyway as the patch now uses files instead of a disk image which means much less OS swaps and faster loading. The game uses a sector based loader which loads 1 sector at a time and decrunches it (simple RLE algorithm), quite a good loader but when running the game from HD it is quite slow for obvious reasons. The old patch also had a problem with the status panel which wasn't displayed, this was caused by a copper list problem which I have fixed, I have also correctly fixed the copperlist pointers now, the game used odd addresses for the copperlist probably as some kind of cartridge protection and in the old patch this was patched incorrectly as there always was the first copper instruction skipped. I have also added some trainers, you can enbable them with CUSTOM1, available options are: CUSTOM1=1: enables unlimited lives CUSTOM1=2: enables unlimited energy CUSTOM1=4: enables unlimited time CUSTOM1=8: enables in-game keys, these are: n - skips current level e - refills energy l - adds 1 life (life counter will be redrawn next time you die) To enable more than 1 option just add together the number, e.g. CUSTOM1=3 (1+2) enables unlimited lives and unlimited energy trainers. Since I have updated the patch to use WHDLoad v17+ features you can also simply select the desired options in WHDLoad's splash window. Please note that high scores will only be saved if no trainer options are used! I have also added an 68000 compatible quit option and made sure that the blitter wait patch will only be installed on machines with a 68010+ CPU, you can force the blitter wait patch on 68000 machines with CUSTOM2=1. Update 19-Jul-2015 ------------------ I have updated the patch and adapted the intro timing so the intro screens will be shown for a certain amount of time despite the fast file loading from HD. Originally these screens were shown while game loaded its data from disk so they disappeared too fast when loading from HD. To skip the intro screens you can press either left mouse button or fire. I have also found and fixed a few more self-modifying parts in the code and removed the Patcher imager from the archive as it is not needed any longer. Enjoy the game from HD.
