This install applies to "Switchblade 2" © 1991 Gremlin Graphics This install requires WHDLoad to be in the path. It can be found in the WHDLoad package. Supports 1 Disk version, GBH Budget release Slave requires WHDLOAD V17+. Game requires 0.5 MB Chip Mem and 4k Other Mem (+ 0.8 other memory for preload option) Version 1.7 (06.03.2022) done by StingRay: - access fault at end of level 5 fixed (issue #5513) - checkbox to disable blitter waits didn't work correct, fixed Version 1.6 (14.07.2021) done by JOTD: - fixed up not working to climb ladders bug (issue #0005205 introduced in 1.5) - support for three button joystick: third button used for big jump Version 1.5 (13.05.2021) done by JOTD: - optional disable blitterwaits with CUSTOM4 (slow machines) (issue #0005161) - read joypad less often (reduces screen glitches?) - joypad controls only active with 2/3-button option set - pause didn't unpause with joypad play button Version 1.4 (21.02.2021) done by JOTD: - optional 2-button control: second/blue button jumps, yellow high jumps (issue #0004954) - joypad controls (play: pause, optional blue & yellow for jumps, reverse+forward+yellow: quit to wb) - small invincibility trainer fix Version 1.3 (01.11.2018) by StingRay: - RawDIC imager - Disk access removed - Memory requirements reduced to 0.5 MB chip and 4k other memory - Quit key changed to F10 - Blitter waits added (x4) - Interrupts fixed - Lots of trainer options added - High score saving fixed (didn't work correctly in the previous versions!) - 68000 quitkey support for the complete game including intro - Interrupts fixed - New install script Version 1.2 by Harry: - Trainer added, quitkey-2 toggles the life loss. Note: The game will not save highscores anymore once you used the trainer - Quitkey support for 68000 CPUs - The following changes were done by Codetapper: - Data files now installed in data subdirectory - Colour bit fixes (x18) - RomIcon, NewIcon and GlowIcon included Version 1.1 by Galahad: - Decruncher relocated to Fast Ram - Delay for intro added and exit from intro with fire button added - Changed Quit key to 'Del' Version 1.0 by Galahad: - Full load from Hard drive - Lame-o-Protect removed - 1x Bus error removed (Exits would not open if not removed) - Load/Save Hiscores to Hard drive - Quit option is 'F9' CHEAT MODE: - Taken from Sweet Cheater by Keith Krellwitz! - On the title screen, type "LEVELn" and press fire to start on the corresponding level. Where 'n' is the level number like "LEVEL2" to go to level two. Thanks to John Regent for disk image. EXTRA NOTES: Because some games operate on interrupts slightly differently than others, I had to extend the base memory from 512k to nearly 772k. This means that the intro music will play properly without cutting out all the time. Seeing as most people have a hell of a lot more memory than this install requires, I hardly think its extravagant! The secret game has been REMOVED! For those that are aware, on the original you would type 'Chrome' on the titlescreen. This has been removed for two reasons: 1) Codetapper of Action has already fixed this game seperately 2) It takes up over 100k of drive space Hardly seems the point to duplicate the work of others! The disk format was originally SS-MFM (Shaun Southern), I have ripped the custom disk format to install the game as REAL files instead. This install was done on a Amiga 68o6o, so I'm quite confident it will work!! :) The Imager is written to take care of the GBH budget release, and whilst I am sure Gremlin did not change it from the original release, you attempt to install this game AT YOUR OWN RISK! Have a merry christmas and a happy new year........ :) NOTES V1.3 (StingRay) --------------------- When I saw an updated version of the Switchblade 2 patch on the WHDLoad site some days ago I checked it and first thing I noticed was the custom imager used to read the disk. So I quickly made a RawDIC imager and when testing it I started updating the patch code as well. The high score saving didn't work properly in the previous versions (try it!) and has been redone, your scores are saved correctly now! The name of the high score file has been changed to "Switchblade2.high", it is NOT compatible with the old high score file! I have also added a lot of trainers which can be selected in the WHDLoad splash screen, the available in-game keys can be displayed by pressing "Help" during the game. High score saving will be disabled if any trainer options are used. The pictures in the intro are shown for 5 seconds or until fire or either mouse button is pressed.
