Bomberman, or as it's known in Europe, Dyna Blaster, is one of my all-time favorites games. Originally created in 1983 for the PC, it was later ported to the Atari ST and the Amiga. The Amiga version of the game, released in 1991, is available for download from this site.
Developed by Hudson Soft and published by Ubisoft, Bomberman is a can't miss classic. Earning a spot in the book 1001 Video Games You Must Play Before You Die, by Tony Mott.
This top-down, strategic, maze-based arcade game features a storyline familiar to most gamers. Guy has girl, bad guy takes girl, so guy must fight his way through enemies to get her back. Though the storyline is simple, the gameplay is fast-paced and fun. Using bombs to blast through walls and turn enemies to ash, it's easy to get drawn into the action. With no shortage of upgrades, you can change your strategy to beat the increasingly challenging levels.
Boasting bright graphics, colorful characters, and a hilarious bomb dropping sound, Bomberman is a must play. Just be careful not to blow yourself up.
