Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist is a beat-em-up created by Konami for the SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis and released in 1992. It was the first appearance of the famous Turtles on the SEGA 16-bit console. If you have never played it, you are lucky because you can download it from GamesNostalgia.

In the game, you will join Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello as they leap into action to save New York City from the clutches of evil. The beloved turtles return in a heart-pounding battle against their arch-nemesis, Shredder, and his army of foot soldiers. The Hyperstone Heist is a must-play for fans of the iconic franchise. As you navigate through the city's treacherous streets, sewers, and skyscrapers, you'll unleash the turtles' unique abilities, master their powerful weapons, and discover hidden secrets along the way.

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Hyperstone Heist, our heroes find themselves facing a new threat to the city they call home. Shredder has stolen the powerful Hyperstone, a mystical gem with the potential to wreak havoc on New York City. With the Hyperstone in his possession, Shredder plans to unleash chaos and take control of the city. It's up to the turtles to stop him and retrieve the Hyperstone before it's too late.

The game takes players through various stages, each with its own unique challenges and enemies. From the streets of New York City to the sewers and even to the rooftops of skyscrapers, the turtles must fight their way through hordes of foot soldiers, robots, and other villains in order to reach Shredder and save the day. Along the way, they'll encounter familiar faces from the TMNT universe, such as Bebop, Rocksteady, and Krang, who will stop at nothing to prevent the turtles from succeeding.

The game features a variety of gameplay mechanics to keep things interesting. Players can perform combos and special moves, using the turtles' weapons to devastating effect. The combat is fluid and satisfying, with each hit feeling impactful. Additionally, there are platforming sections that require precise jumps and timing, adding an extra layer of challenge to the game.

Leonardo is the leader of the group and wields two katanas, making him a balanced character with good speed and power. Raphael, the hotheaded one, uses twin sai and excels in close combat. Michelangelo, the fun-loving party dude, fights with nunchucks and is the fastest of the turtles. Finally, Donatello, the tech-savvy ninja, uses a bo staff with the most extended reach.

Each turtle has their own special move that can be unleashed by collecting power-ups throughout the game. These special moves are powerful attacks that can clear the screen of enemies and deal massive damage to bosses. Choosing the right turtle for each stage and strategically using their special moves can make a significant difference in the outcome of battles.

When "The Hyperstone Heist" was released in 1992, it was met with positive reviews and praise from both critics and fans alike. The game was lauded for its fast-paced gameplay, impressive graphics, and faithful adaptation of the TMNT universe. It was considered one of the best games in the franchise at the time and remained a fan favorite to this day.

Critics praised the game's controls, stating that they were responsive and easy to pick up. The graphics were also highly regarded, with colorful sprites and detailed backgrounds that captured the essence of the turtles' world. The only negative side is the fact that many elements of the game have been recycled from previous NES and SNES games, like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time but this is normal, considering that those titles never saw a Genesis port.

So whether you're a die-hard fan of the Turtles or a newcomer to the franchise, "The Hyperstone Heist" is a must-play that should not be missed.
