Wacky Races by Hi-Tech Software is the videogame adaptation of a famous animated series. Do you remember Wacky Races, the cartoon by Hanna-Barbera, with Dick Dastardly, his dog Muttley, and the other funny racers? Here you are!
The game was released in 1991 for the Amiga and Atari ST and ported to the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, and Amstrad CPC in 1992.
In the game, you are the evil Dastardly, and you will have to compete in a series of races against your usual adversaries, Penelope Pitstop, Peter Perfect, Rufus Ruffcut, The Ant Hill Mob, and all the others. As usual, you will try to set traps and hinder your opponents instead of trying to race as fast as possible.
The graphics are colorful, and they are one of the best aspects of the title. Gameplay, instead, is somewhat limited. Wacky Races is more a platformer rather than a racing game. Mostly, you will have to jump at the right time from one platform to another to avoid falling into a ravine with your car. It's fun for the first 10 minutes, but then it gets boring. Anyway, the chance to be part of this hilarious series is one you cannot miss. It doesn't matter if it's just for a short time. Muttley! Do something!
