Worms is a turn-based artillery game developed by Andy Davidson for Team17 and released in 1995 for Amiga and MS-DOS by Ocean.
It is the first game in the Worms series and thanks to its success it was later ported to the SEGA Genesis, Game Boy, Jaguar, SNES, Playstation and other platforms.
The gameplay is turn based and resembles other artillery games such as Scorched Earth. There are up to 4 teams of 4 worms, aiming to destroy the others on a computer generated terrain. There are a lot of weapons available, with several different effects modified by gravity, and 10 different terrain types.
Despite some magazines didn't give very high review, Worms was a great success and was praised for its fun during multiplayer matches. A remake was released for Xbox360, PS3 and iPhone.
