A hell of a lot of games updated this month!

We told you November would have been the month of the updates, and it has been indeed! A long task made of research (to find the best versions of the games), fine tuning (to set up and config the games), development (to automate the process), tests (because the first attempt never works) and most importantly, passion!

Beside updating the games and emulators, fixing bugs and make the games easier to use, this was the occasion to convert the archives from ZIP to 7zip, to reduce the size. This is better for you (faster to download) and better for the site, because the cost of bandwidth increases every month.

So, just to give you an idea, in November we re-packed and uploaded 146 files so far, it's really a lot! This makes the total of files in 7zip format 330, while 550 are in still in ZIP. So the job is not over yet, but 80% of the daily downloads are in 7zip. Not bad.

It’s impossible to list all the games that have been updated, this is just a small extract: The Secret of Monkey Island, Indiana Jones And The Fate Of Atlantis, Full Throttle, Master of Orion II: Battle at Antares, Transport Tycoon Deluxe, The Oregon Trail, Street Fighter II, Lords of the Realm II, The Settlers II, Doom and Doom II, Prince of Persia, X-COM and X-COM: Terror from the Deep, Mega Man X, Quake, Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge e many many others. If you want to know all of them, check the new ChangeLog.

In the next post we’ll talk more in deep about the emulators, stay tuned.
