Game Review

Monster Business is an arcade platformer developed by Eclipse Software and released by Ascon in 1991 for Amiga and Atari ST.

Inspired to famous coin-ups such as Mr. Do and Dig Dug, but also masterpieces such as Bubble Bobble, the goal of the game is to eliminate all enemies on the screen to clear the level. Enemies drop bonuses and collectible items when they explode, so you have to collect them all. The only difference in gameplay is that the level does not fit the screen entirely; by walking left or right, or jumping on the platforms, the screen scrolls.

The graphics are not particularly memorable, but the best aspect of the game is the difficulty level. Perfectly balanced, it increases progressively, allowing the player to learn, as all good games should do. Probably the only missing feature is the 2-players cooperative mode. Pity. In any case, if you love old arcades, Monster Business is a game you have to try.
