Player Manager is a football management sim created by Dino Dini as a spin-off and sequel to Kick Off. The game was published in 1990 for the Amiga and Atari ST.
Player Manager is considered the first game to mix management and action. In fact, you can manage your team and play the matches, thanks to the game engine inherited from Kick Off. There are 1000 fictional players you can buy and sell, you can design your own tactics, manage finances and deal with injuries. If you don't want to play the matches in person, you can just sit on the bench, but why would anyone do that?
Player Manager received very positive reviews at the time, almost everywhere over 90%, and there are people still playing it today. Are you one of them?
