Game Review

St. Dragon (full name Tenseiryuu Saint Dragon) is a sci-fi side-scrolling shooter originally released as a arcade by Jaleco in 1989. The conversions to Amiga, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum and Atari ST were handled by Storm Entertainment (which asked Random Access to do the Amiga version).

The game, a classic shooter inspired to R-Type, features huge sprites, lots of enemies and several weapons. If the arcade was not so popular, some of the conversions, especially the ZX Spectrum and the Amiga ones, were real gems. The developer of the Amiga version, John Croudy, did an amazing job. There are a huge amount of enemies and objects on screen, with no problems at all in terms of speed.

The game is actually very fast (and very difficult) and it doesn't need to stop to load, because all the assets are continously loaded during the gameplay. This shooter is a remarkable achievement that you need to try.
