PGA Tour Golf is the first game of the popular series of golf sims. It was designed and developed by Lee Actor and Dennis Koble, the founders of Sterling Silver Software, and published for MS-DOS in 1990 by Electronic Arts.
The series is officially based on the U.S. PGA Tour and contains many actual courses. Reviews were highly positive. The game was ported in 1991 to the Sega Genesis, Macintosh, SNES, and Commodore Amiga, and in 1993 to Sega Master System and Game Gear.
PGA Tour Golf started a long series that became Tiger Woods 99 PGA Tour Golf in 1998.
