Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers is the fourth chapter of the popular beat-em-up series based on the arcade Street Fighter II. This edition, known as Super Street Fighter 2, is the first to use "Super" in the title.

The arcade version was released in 1993, while the Mega Drive/Genesis, SNES, and FM Towns versions were created in 1994. In 1995, Capcom published the Amiga AGA version, which was developed by Freestyle.

Unsurprisingly, considering the title "The New Challengers", Super SF2 introduces four new characters: Cammy, a young member of the English special forces; Fei Long, a Chinese martial arts movie star (in case you are wondering, yes, it looks like Bruce Lee), T. Hawk, a Mexican indigenous warrior, and Dee Jay, a Jamaican kickboxing master. There are also new special moves for Ryu, Ken, Zangief, and Mr. Bison.

Everybody knows Street Fighter 2, and I bet you have played at least one of the editions. You probably don't know that Super SF2 is universally considered the best Street Fighter 2 you can play on an Amiga. Not in terms of graphics, where the sequel, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, is superior. But in terms of gameplay, the accuracy of the AI, and the responsiveness of the controls, Super Street Fighter II is the best conversion of the series. The guys at Freestyle really did amazing work.

But it doesn't end here because, in 2008, a group of friends of the English Amiga Board forum was able to extract the graphics of the AGA version, fix the color palette, make several adjustments, and pack everything into a new version of the game. Check the screenshots below and compare them with the screenshots of the official edition, and you will see the difference. They decided to call this unofficial edition "Super Street Fighter II DX", and this is exactly what you will download here. Ready to fight?
