Microsoft Flight Simulator 4 is the fourth edition of the popular flight simulation game created by Bruce A. Artwick and later acquired by Microsoft.
This version, released in 1989, was the last one to be ported to other platforms (Macintosh), after that, the brand would become a PC exclusive.
FS4 was one of the most successful in terms of reviews, with extremely high ratings received by many magazines. It introduced several improvements, including new and updated airplanes models, improved scenery, random weather, dynamic scenery, and a new experimental aircraft, the Schweitzer 2-32 sailplane, that players could modify.
But what made Flight Simulator 4 a huge success was the add-on "Aircraft and Scenery Designer," also known as "A&SD" (created by the original creator of FS for Microsoft). The expansion allowed players to create and modify their scenery and aircraft and exchange them with other users. It also added the Boeing 747 (all of this is included in the package that you will download from GamesNostalgia). But most importantly, it transformed the program into an open world, that could be expanded with user-generated content.
Another add-on, called Aircraft Adventure Factory, gave even more freedom to the content creators, allowing them to use a CAD-like format to design their aircraft, and a language similar to BASIC to create scripts for the game.
In other words, Flight Simulator 4 is a real milestone in the history of video games. You don't want to miss this.
