Batman Returns is the official adaptation for the Amiga of the 1992 movie by Tim Burton. There are many versions of Batman Returns, from the NES, SNES, Game Gear, Master System, Genesis, and others. Each one has some differences in terms of gameplay. The Amiga version, developed by Denton Designs, was released in 1993 by GameTek in Europe (rest of the world by Konami) and it's a platformer/beat-em-up.
In the game, players control Batman as he fights against various enemies in the streets of Gotham City.
The game has seven levels, each with a different setting and theme. The first level takes place in the snowy streets of Gotham, where Batman battles the Red Triangle Circus Gang. Later levels occur in locations such as the Gotham City Zoo, the city's sewers, and the Penguin's lair.
Players control Batman as he moves left and right, jumps, and attacks enemies using various gadgets and martial arts moves. Batman can use his Batarang to attack enemies from a distance or use his grappling hook to swing across gaps and reach new areas.
In addition to regular enemies, players must also battle bosses at the end of each level. These bosses include characters such as the Penguin, Catwoman, and Max Shreck.
The game features impressive graphics, with detailed backgrounds and character sprites. Compared to Batman: The Movie, this game is much more complex. The difficulty level is higher, with traps and enemies hidden from view. Some reviewers even define the title as "frustrating". However, Batman: The Movie, in some cases, was criticized for being too simplistic and repetitive, so up to you.
If you are a fan of the Dark Knight, you cannot miss this title.
