Double Dragon II: The Revenge is a side-scrolling beat 'em up created originally as an arcade by Technos Japan, as a sequel to Double Dragon. The game was ported to many home computers, including DOS, Atari ST, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum. The Amiga version, developed by Binary Design, was released in 1989.
In the '90s, violence was king of New York's streets until two brave young men came forward to end the reign of terror. The Double Dragons, as they are known, are two guys named Billy and Jimmy Lee. When Billy's girlfriend is killed during an attack, both boys vow to avenge her death.
The game plays a lot like Streets of Rage, another of my favorites; you walk through the streets kicking the snot out of the bad guys (and girls). Enemy types have their own appearance and attack styles, which keep things interesting. If enemies are carrying any weapons, they are up for grabs when you knock them out of their hands. I love classic beat 'em ups like this. There's just something so fun about running around fighting everyone to me. I still like to play this one because it's fun, and it takes me back.
