Speed Buggy (Buggy Boy in the UK) is an arcade racing game created by Tatsumi initially released in 1985.
In 1987-1988 several home computer versions were created, including the Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, Amiga, and Atari ST ports. The excellent C64 version became one of the most appreciated racing games for the 8-bit computer. The Amiga version received positive ratings, thanks to the faithful reproduction of the game mechanics. In terms of graphics, the developers could have done better on the Amiga: since the game was converted from Atari ST, it's limited to 16 colors. However, despite the simplicity, the visuals are pleasant and useful.
With Speed Buggy, you should not expect a driving simulation, not even the complexity of Lotus (Magnetic Fields won't release it until 1990). Speed Buggy is an arcade game, and it's fun and addictive. For many people, the first game they played on their Amiga. Nostalgia at its best.
