Rick Dangerous is a 2D action platformer created by Core Design and published by Microplay Software in 1989 for the Amiga and Atari ST. It was also released for Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, and other home computers. The game is unofficially inspired by Indiana Jones, and the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Rick is a sort of Indy, and he will have to escape traps and fight against the Nazis, armed with a pistol and dynamite. The game has several scenarios: a jungle, pyramids, a German castle, and a secret missile base. The game received positive reviews on the Amiga and Atari ST.
Core Design must have liked the theme of "action archaeology" very much. Some years later, in fact, they created one of the most popular franchises of all time: Tomb Raider.
