Cannon Fodder 2: Once More unto the Breach is the sequel to the original Cannon Fodder. It was developed by Sensible Software and published by Virgin Interactive Entertainment in 1994 for Amiga and DOS.
Cannon Fodder 2 kept the general gameplay of the first but used new levels with improved graphics.
You lead a team of 4 as they fight through different levels ranging from desert to space. Your team is armed with machine guns that will make quick work of their enemies on foot. Your team, however, is similarly just as easy to dispatch. As your enemies get progressively more complicated and have better firepower, you must acquire better weapons to survive. Turrets, vehicles, and buildings also spawn enemies to contend with. These other threats are not as susceptible to your machine gun fire, but not to fear; your team can also find grenades and rockets to take them out. Ammo for these explosive weapons is limited, so use them wisely. Your team can also be taken out by booby traps that are scattered throughout the levels, so keep your eyes open. You will have to employ some strategy because your team is outnumbered. You must find the best course to succeed and keep your team alive.
Due to the controversy surrounding the original game, the editor at Amiga Power, Stuart Campbell, had a strong opinion about the situation. Ultimately, Campbell left the magazine and began working for Sensible Software, programming the sequel, Cannon Fodder 2. Cannon Fodder 2 did well upon its release but fell short of the original. Regardless, the game is still a strong sequel and just as fun to play.
