Star Goose! (also know as Stargoose Warrior) is a sci-fi arcade shooter created by Logotron for the Atari ST, Amiga, and MS-DOS and released in 1988.
Designed by two brilliant game creators of the Liverpool gaming scene, Steven Cain and GP Everett, this title alternates top-down shoot-em-up levels with behind-view sections, both in pseudo-3d. In the top-down levels, the terrain - a sort of 3D polygons graphics surface similar to Populous - does not limit its purpose to the visuals. It simulates a real terrain with different heights, so it's part of the gameplay; if you are behind a hill, you cannot shoot enemies, and you are protected by their fire. This is the main reason why the game is a bit different from the typical shooter.

R-Type is a side-scrolling shoot-em-up arcade created by Irem in 1987. The graphics design was inspired by H. R. Giger's artwork for the Alien movies. It was ported to several home computers, including ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 in 1988, Atari ST, and Amiga in 1989.
Ever feel like horizontal-scrolling ship shooters are all the same? That's because, to some extent, they are. Some excellent ones are known for having the same gameplay, the same camera, even the same story. With that in mind, how will R-Type break a stereotype that wasn't even overused at the time? It's time to find out.

Wacky Wheels is an arcade-kart racing game released by Apogee Software in 1994 for MS-DOS only. In this game, you can play any of eight wacky animals. As you can imagine, Super Mario Kart strongly inspired the game.
When you think of kart racing games, what game do you think of? Depending on the console you grew up on, most will say Super Mario Kart. I know many will also feel of Crash Team Racing. Even though they are the most well-known (undoubtedly the best), many other games have taken a similar path.
Wacky Wheels is one of them. Beavis Scott developed the game, which Apogee Software published in 1994.

Bloodwych is a first-person dungeon crawler role-playing game, developed for the Amiga and Atari ST in 1989 by Image Works. It was ported to MS-DOS, Commodore 64, and ZX Spectrum in 1990.
Bloodwych is a game that generates a lot of debate. On the one hand, there is the wing of gamers who argue that it is an underrated game, unique, special, and much better than its contemporaries. On the other hand, it is also criticized for being flat, slow, and an inferior copy of classics like Dungeon Master or Eye of the Beholder. Which of these two versions will be the right one? Stay reading the review, and maybe we'll find out.

Shadow Fighter is a fighting game created by N.A.P.S. and published by Gremlin Graphics exclusively for the Amiga, initially for ECS machines, then AGA.
Clearly inspired by popular titles such as Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter II, Shadow Fighter anyway has its own personality, with 16 unique characters, each one with its own moves. Unlike the official conversions of these famous arcades, the beat-em-up created by NAPS doesn't have gameplay problems. You almost forget that the Amiga joystick has only one button, which was the biggest limit in other fighting games. You only miss it in the most complicated combos. Graphics and backgrounds are amazing, with good use of the 256 colors of the AGA models. Music is also excellent, and it fits perfectly the different scenarios.

After the War is a post-apocalyptic action game created by the Spanish software house Dinamic Software in 1989. It was released for 8-bit platforms - ZX Spectrum, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64 - and 16-bit platforms - Atari ST and Amiga.
The title is inspired by John Carpenter's movie Escape from New York.
The first part is a beat-em-up, similar to titles like Double Dragon. While in the second part of the game, the hero uses a gun, so it becomes a shooter like Contra. The gun can be rotated, as in Midnight Resistance.
