Whale's Voyage II

Whale

Author: GN Team - Published: 5 March 2019, 2:26 am

Whale's Voyage II: Die Übermacht, released in 1995, is the sequel to the sci-fi RPG Whale's Voyage created by neo Software.

The game is a mix of role-playing, space exploration, trading and a bit of dungeon crawling. You control the crew of the spaceship Whale, and you start by creating four characters, choosing between several classes (Soldier, Medic, Monk, Psionic, Biochemist, Bounty Hunter, Electrician, Rhetorician, Pilot, and "Cybertechnician").

With your spaceship, you will need to travel from one planet to another, and at each port, you can buy and sell goods. You can also land, and once on the surface, the game becomes a sort of dungeon crawler. In a way, it's a kind of precursor of Mass Effect. Unlike the first game, in Whale's Voyage II the exploration happens in real 3D. It is one of the few RPGs - another one is Ambermoon - to provide this feature on the Amiga.

Warlords II

Author: Tasha - Published: 2 March 2019, 12:06 am

Warlords II is the successor to the original Warlords, and it was developed and published by Strategic Studies Group in 1993 for DOS. It later made its way onto Mac and then eventually Windows Mobile.

In this strategy RPG game, originally designed by Steve Fawkner, you begin your journey for conquest by choosing your race. The choices are varied and include Orc, Dark Elf, and Human, among others. Once that bit of business is out of the way you begin with just a single city that you are the ruler of. Your goal, of course, is to expand your influence and add to your empire. To do this, you must make war with other cities and defeat them.

Amberstar

Amberstar

Author: Tasha - Published: 1 March 2019, 10:49 pm

Amberstar is a fantasy RPG that was developed and published by Thalion Software in 1992 for Amiga, Atari ST, and DOS. It was intended to be the first of a trilogy, but the project was cut short following the sequel, Ambermoon, and the subsequent closing of the company in 1994.

Starting, your character is standing with regret over his parents’ graves, wishing he could have done something. With a heavy heart, he sets out to figure out what to do with his life. Lucky for him an epic quest is about to be dropped in his lap. Behind the scenes, an evil sorcerer is hell-bent on releasing evil upon the land. It’s your job, with a little help, to stop him before he succeeds. Amberstar lets you have a party of up to 6 team members, they come with or can be assigned their classes and attributes. In the beginning, your main character will have no class, but this can be remedied in cities that have guilds where you can choose a class and train accordingly. Combat is turn-based, though enemy encounters aren’t entirely random. You can find enemies either at designated points in the game or by walking up to an enemy on the map.

Wasted Dreams

Wasted Dreams

Author: GN Team - Published: 28 February 2019, 2:27 am

Wasted Dreams is a sci-fi isometric action-adventure created by Digital Dreams Entertainment for the Amiga and released in 1999. It was one of the last commercial games designed for the Amiga and one of the few released on CD only.

It's also the biggest Amiga game you can download from GamesNostalgia.

The adventure designed by Cvijan & Goran Cvijanović is set in a distant future, where two guys, part of an expedition to find a new planet for humanity, crash land on an alien planet. The settings and the hi-quality cinematic animations will remind you of Flashback: The Quest for Identity. The difference is the view is top-down isometric and not a side view. Despite some shooting (you will have to collect a gun to defend yourself from the aliens), Wasted Dreams is primarily an adventure. You will have to find objects, talk with people and solve puzzles.

All New World of Lemmings

All New World of Lemmings

Author: Tasha - Published: 27 February 2019, 1:59 am

All New World of Lemmings is the third entry into the Lemmings franchise. It was developed by DMA Design and published by Psygnosis in 1994 for Amiga and DOS.

All New World of Lemmings (a.k.a. Lemmings Chronicles) picks up the story after the Lemmings escaped their homeland and weathered a terrible storm. Once the clouds clear, the Lemmings find themselves near a set of islands and decide it is as good a place as any to build their new home. Though there are 12 lemming tribes total, you will only be playing as 3 of them: Classic, Egyptian, and Shadow. You are free to pick and choose which tribe’s missions to do and can always switch to another tribe whenever you want to. For those unfamiliar with the Lemmings series, you control a horde of cute little creatures and use their skills to get past obstacles. All of the lemmings will fall into the level one after the other, and they walk until they encounter something that they cannot overcome, like a wall. They will then reverse direction and head the other way. Unlike the previous entries, All New World adds the ability to change the direction of your lemmings yourself. The lemmings have inherent skills of their own but can also pick up items they can use to do specific actions. Your goal is to escape each level with as many lemmings as you can.

Alien Fish Finger is a platform/shooter created by David J. Cruickshank for the Amiga initially in 1995 as shareware, then re-released for free in 2011.

This fantastic 2D shoot'em up, one of the best titles that you can find in the Amiga public domain, was developed entirely by Cruickshank, who coded the game with Blitz Basic II and made the graphics with Deluxe Paint 4. Many years later, in 2011, David decided to re-release the game, adding several enhancements, including new sound effects, 2nd button support for jumping, new secret areas, three difficulty levels, Steam-like achievements, and many many other things.
