After ten years of hard work and countless hours of meticulous curation, GamesNostalgia has officially reached a significant milestone: 1500 games are now available on the website. What began as a passionate project to preserve classic gaming has evolved into one of the most comprehensive retro gaming libraries on the web, offering carefully curated versions of timeless titles for Windows and macOS.

It's not just about the number. This milestone showcases the diversity of gaming's golden age. Our collection spans the most beloved platforms of gaming history, with the Amiga leading the charge at 870 titles, followed by 460 MS-DOS classics that defined PC gaming in the 1980s and 1990s. The library extends beyond computers to include 100 SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis games, 88 Commodore 64 titles, and 104 Windows titles that bridge the gap between retro and modern gaming. Windows games are the most critical ones, since we cannot wrap them with an emulator, so we can't guarantee that they will work on your system.

Platform diversity has always been a central part of GamesNostalgia's mission, because we want you to experience the best version of each title. Beyond the major systems, we've collected treasures from the NES (65 games), Game Boy (27 games), TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine (18 games), and MSX (18 games), while also maintaining collections for SNES - recently added to our supported plaftorms with 21 games, Atari 8-bit, Apple II, and Amstrad CPC. Some platforms are less covered than others, but we will try to improve (remember you can always write us for requests).

As previously mentioned, we prioritize cross-platform availability. Of our 1500 games, 280 titles are available in multiple platform versions, allowing users to experience how classics like Prince of Persia, Cannon Fodder, or Street Fighter II evolved across different systems. This multi-platform approach provides fascinating insights into how hardware limitations and capabilities shaped the gaming experience during the golden age of home computers and consoles.

Please note that English is the secondary language for many of our readers. That's why our collection includes nearly 50 games available in Italian, 10 in German, and titles in French, Spanish, Polish, and Japanese, ensuring that non-English speakers can experience classics in their native languages. This commitment to linguistic diversity reflects the global nature of gaming and helps preserve regional gaming cultures that might otherwise be lost to time.

The technical work behind these 1500 games is not trivial. Each title has been wrapped and optimized to run seamlessly on modern systems. Believe it or not, we tested all the games at least once. And when the game didn't work, needed adjustments, or required a different configuration, we modified the wrapper. This process requires testing, configuration tweaking, and creative solutions (not to mention time).

This philosophy of prioritizing quality over quantity has guided GamesNostalgia since its inception. Rather than overwhelming users with every title ever released, we focus on preserving the games that defined their respective platforms—the innovative pioneers, the commercial successes, and the hidden gems that deserve rediscovery. Whether it's the strategic depth of Sid Meier's Colonization, the atmospheric storytelling of Prince of Persia, or the groundbreaking first-person action of Wolfenstein 3D, our goal is to offer the definitive retro gaming experience. We would also like to cover missing platforms, such as the ZX Spectrum and the BBC Micro. However, our primary goal extends beyond simply adding more platforms: we want to ensure that the absolute best games from each system find their home in our library.

Every month brings new challenges as operating systems evolve, compatibility issues emerge, and original hardware becomes increasingly rare. GamesNostalgia's commitment to maintaining these 1500 games ensures that future generations will have access to the titles that shaped gaming culture.

Finally, GamesNostalgia is more than just game downloads. We have increased our number of reviews, and in our blog, you can find interesting articles about the history of computer games and biographies of the most famous game designers. If you are interested in game design, you will love the articles about Jordan Mechner or Richard Garriott.

The next 1500 games await, and with them, countless hours of rediscovered joy for veterans revisiting their youth and newcomers experiencing these classics for the first time. In preserving these digital artifacts, GamesNostalgia continues its mission to ensure that gaming's rich history remains playable, accessible, and celebrated for years to come.
