Game Review

Hero's Quest: So You Want To Be A Hero is the first chapter of the popular series of hybrid adventures/rpg created by Lori Ann Cole (and later renamed Quest For Glory). The game was released in 1989 for MS-DOS, Atari ST and Amiga.

Hero's Quest is similar, for many aspects, to other Sierra adventures, but it has its differences. To the usual exploration and puzzle solving, it adds some aspects typical of role-playing games: in fact you start selecting the class of the character (Fighter, Mage, or Thief) and you will have to develop him practicing skills and selecting the stats.

Hero's Quest was remade in 1992 and published with the name Quest for Glory I: So You Want To Be A Hero, only for PC. This is the original Amiga version published in 1989, that many fans prefer compared to the remake (especially for a difference regarding the allocation of magic points).

The game was voted #2 Best Role-Playing Game in 1990 by Amiga Joker and Adventure Game of the Year by Computer Gaming World.
