Empire Deluxe is a turn-based strategy game released by New World Computing in 1993 for PC.
The story of this game begins in 1977 when a first version of the game (without graphics, of course) was created by Walter Bright. The American programmer, also known for having invented the D programming language, took inspiration from Risk and several war movies. The basic mechanics are not much different from Sid Meier's Civilization. The key elements are the cities that won't be built by the players but are already spread in all the maps, ready to be conquered.

Bandit Kings of Ancient China is a wargame/strategy game created by Koei. It was released in Japan in 1988 for MSX2. In 1990, it was ported to the US/European markets for MS-DOS, Amiga, and Macintosh.
Are you a fan of highly complex strategy games? When I say difficult, I mean super-complex; if so, this is the game for you. Bandit Kings (original title "Suikoden: Tenmei no Chikai") is a turn-based strategy game with so much depth that its manual is a hundred pages long! Koei was experienced in the genre, having released two installments for the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series before Bandit Kings of Ancient China.

FIFA Soccer 95 is a football game released by Electronic Arts in 1994 exclusively for the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive.
It was when EA Games was a junior entering the gaming industry; no one expected the Fifa game series to get as big as it is today.
Fifa Soccer '95 was a sequel to the original FIFA International Soccer by EA Games, but unlike the predecessor, it was developed exclusively for the SEGA console. It was built as an improvement to the original title, as a fix to most of its major issues, and in my opinion, it did its job.

In the year of 1989, Titus Interactive released the sequel to the original Fire and Forget, a racing-shooting game.
Fire & Forget II: The Death Convoy was released initially as an arcade, then ported to Amiga, MS-DOS, Atari ST in 1990.
The game combines two of the most adrenaline-pumping activities for men, High-speed racing and violent firefights. Oh, yeah, the car can also fly in this game, by the way.
The story is simple and straight forward. There is an imminent terrorist attack expected on the 3rd conference for peace; the player is faced with the task of preventing a convoy of vehicles from reaching the City of Megapolis. To aid you in your treacherous journey, you are armed with your trusty sidekick of a car, the "Thunder Master II." Navigating at high speeds through the roads leading to Megapolis, the end goal is to disable the lead vehicle, armed with the "Life Thirsty," a nuclear weapon of mass destruction.

Heimdall is an action RPG game developed by The 8th Day and published by Core Design. Released in 1991, the game was available on multiple platforms such as MS-DOS, Amiga, and Atari ST.
The game takes Norse mythology as its theme as we dive into the exciting world of gods and Vikings. Swords, flaming torches, plundering, and beards that are manly enough to win barfights on their own? What's not to love.
Set in the age of the Ragnarök, or the great battle between good and evil, which is prophesied to arrive in due time. The god of mischief, Loki, has put the entire faction representing ''good'' into quite a mess with one of his antics. Loki has stolen 3 of the most powerful weapons belonging to the gods that can shift the outcome of the war; The hammer belonging to Thor, the spear of Freyr, and the legendary sword of Odin. To make matters worse, he has gone the extra mile to hide the weapons in different worlds as a practical joke.

Airborne Ranger is an action game created by MicroProse initially in 1987 for the Commodore 64. It was later ported to MS-DOS, Amstrad CPC, and ZX Spectrum.
The Amiga and ST versions, released in 1989, were developed by Imagitec Design.
Lawrence Schick was the game designer for this game. He is also known for F-15 Strike Eagle, and most importantly, he co-authored the first D&D Dungeons Masters Guide with legendary Gary Gygax.
MicroProse was famous for simulation games, but for Airborne Ranger, they launched a new genre defined as "action-simulation." You will have to guide your ranger during several missions behind the enemy lines. Munitions will be scarce (so this is clearly not a shoot 'em up), and a lot of stealth will be required to avoid minefields, enemy soldiers, and traps. It's not Metal Gear, but you can try to find the similarities if you want.
