Star Wars: Dark Forces is a single-player first-person shooter set in the Star Wars universe, created by LucasArts Entertainment in 1995 for MS-DOS.
In this game, you are a mercenary called Kyle Katarn, and you work with the rebels during the events preceding the first Star Wars movie.
Dark Forces is often considered a Doom clone, but the game doesn't use the doom engine. LucasArts developed its own engine, similar to the Doom one, but with some additional features, such as the ability to look up and down, duck, jump, and swim. Levels are no longer limited to one floor; they can also have several floors at different heights. Despite being still a 2.5D game, Dark Forces was more similar to a real 3D game.
The new shooter by LucasArts was an incredible success and started a long series of action games set in the Star Wars universe. If you have never tried it, it's time to remedy it.
