Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord is the first chapter of the popular series of role-playing computer games. This simple dungeon crawler inspired by Dungeons & Dragons was developed by Andrew C. Greenberg and Robert Woodhead for the Apple II, and it was released in 1981 by Sir-tech. It was later ported to Commodore 64, Macintosh, PC Booter, and other platforms. Together with Ultima and Might and Magic, it is considered a game that defined its genre. Besides, it's the first game where the player controls a party of several characters.
