Game Review

Dragon Lord, released initially as Dragon's Breath in Europe, is a fantasy action-strategy game released in 1990 for Amiga, Atari ST, and MS-DOS.

The concept and gameplay of this turn-based game, created by Andrew Bailey, are very innovative. You are a wizard (or a "lord") competing against two other lords to find the Magical Talisman. To do that, you will have to raise and breed dragons, sending them to missions to attack villages and bring destruction. Once the towns are terrified, their territories will be annexed to your kingdom.

Alchemy plays an important role. You will have to create powerful potions and spells, which will be fundamental to increasing your dragons' strength. From the map, you can control territories and decide your next target. It's also possible to control the dragon from a first-person view. In these action sequences, you can attack towns, but you will also need to fight against the defending dragons (if any).

Despite not being very popular, Dragon Lord is one of the best turn-based fantasy games released for the Amiga and ST. If you want to feel like Daenerys Targaryen, it's the game for you!
