Alien Breed II: The Horror Continues is a sci-fi top-down shooter created by Team17 exclusively for the Amiga and released in 1993.
It's the sequel to Alien Breed and Alien Breed: Special Edition 92. Like the predecessor, the game supports 2 simultaneous players in co-op. The series resembles the iconic Gauntlet arcade in gameplay, but the scenario is completely different. In fact, Alien Breed is set in a universe similar to that of the film Aliens, where deadly, mortal alien species can infect and exterminate entire colonies on distant planets. In this world, you are interplanetary soldiers in charge of cleaning remote colonies from the scary aliens.
Alien Breed 2 represents the culprit of the saga created by Team 17. The title was developed specifically for the Amiga with the AGA chipset, unlike many titles. We are really talking about one of the best games ever developed for the latest generation of Amiga models. More colors, better sounds, better animations, better everything. To be fair, an ECS version was released as well, and it wasn't bad at all.
But it's not just about graphics; this sequel includes several enhancements to the gameplay too, thanks to the lessons learned during the first games; for example, doors can also be destroyed, in case you don't have keys; aliens have a proper respawn rate; colonies are designed like real buildings and not like mazes; and other small things that can improve the experience a lot.
In short, this is one of the best Amiga titles you can play right now, and it appears in our Top 20 Games Born on the Amiga chart. What else do I need to say?
