Game Review

Moonbase: Lunar Colony Simulator is a strategy/simulation game created by Wesson International in 1990 for MS-DOS and later ported to Amiga and Macintosh.

As you can imagine from the title, the game will ask you to build and manage a moon base, specifically, the first human base on the moon. The game designers, Bobby Green and Brett Adams, worked with NASA and KDT Industries to make a simulation as realistic as possible. KDT Industries was a contractor of NASA at the time, and they designed a prototype of a potential moon base. All the game elements are based on this prototype, making it an exciting game from a scientific point of view.

At first sight, the game looks like a SimCity based on the moon. The user interface is very similar, with an icon bar on the left and a menu system similar to the Maxis games. Unfortunately, the gameplay is not as polished as the masterpiece designed by Will Wright. Moonbase is quite a tricky game, and it won't be easy to build and maintain a self-sufficient base. The moon is a hostile environment, and you will have to ensure oxygen, energy, heat, and shelter for the colonists. Accidents and all sorts of problems will make your life difficult but also very interesting.

This game is for you if you like realistic simulations with scientific research behind them.
