Game Review

The Chessmaster 2000 is the first title in the popular Chessmaster series created by The Software Toolworks. The game, developed initially for MS-DOS, was released in 1986 for PC, Amiga, Commodore 64, Apple II, Atari 8-bit, and MSX. Later it would be ported to other platforms.

The chess engine, written by David Kittinger, was the strongest available at the time, able to beat any other computer game, and contained an opening library with 71,000 moves. The user interface supports both a 2D view and an isometric (defined as "3D" at the time) view.
